As many of you know, the North South Foundation (NSF) conducts spelling, vocabulary, geography, math, essay writing and
public speaking contests for Indian American children. This year we are adding a Science Contest as a pilot. This year's MA
contests are scheduled for April 17-18 at Fitchburg State College and May 2 at Tufts University. More information on the contests
and the registration process can be found at the Foundation's web site: www.northsouth.org. The registration is open and once you
register your child the contest preparation materials can be accessed. For the contests, we only have on-line registration.
Chapter volunteers have also organized a series of workshops for children interested in these contests. These will be held on
Saturday, February 20 at Fitchburg State College. More details are available at the NSF website and a schedule is attached.

NSF has been holding these contests in this area for the past 9 years and for the past 21 years in the US. This is the primary activity of the
organization for children of Indian origin in the US and is designed not only to enrich and reward their academic achievements but also to involve
them and their families in raising funds to support poor children in India to attend college.
The North South Foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, provides scholarships to needy children who display academic excellence in India.
The Foundation has distributed more than 3500 scholarships to students who need financial support to pursue their quest for knowledge in engineering, medicine, polytechnic, science and other fields. The student is eligible for the scholarship until graduation as long as required academic standards are maintained. The Foundation funds these scholarships by raising donations in the US. The local chapters in various states in India do advertising to invite applications from students, screening these applications and selecting the most needy group of students who eventually become NSF scholarship recipients. More information on NSF can be found at the foundation’s web site.
We would also appreciate it if you can forward this information to other Deshis on your mailing list so that their children may also take advantage
of these educational opportunities and contribute to the worthwhile cause of helping poor children in India. Thank you for your interest and please
