Justice through an Anklet - A Dance Ballet- 3.30PM - 6.00PM (Special Onam Event)
KANE is very delighted to present Silapathigaram, a timeless Indian tale
based on the epic composition of the great Tamil poet
Ilango
Adigal . Also known as the story of
"The Assertive
Anklet", this compelling dance drama is set in the beautiful temple city of Madurai.
It weaves the haunting tales of two
women, the innocent Kannagi, a commoner, and the
gorgeous Madhavi, a famous dancer who is hopelessly in love with Kovalan, Kannagi's husband. The intricately woven tale culminates in a tragic but
dramatic finale with Kannagi transforming herself into a powerful
Goddess to seek retribution and justice. Combining graceful Bharatanatyam dance form,
with vibrant music,
creative choreography and
English
narration, this story will make for
another rare treat for the senses.
The concept and choreography for this production are by Madurai Muralidaranof Chennai India, a renowned dance choreographer who has won critical acclaim for his creations in Bharatanatyam, with over 300 compositions to his credit.
This production brings together the
best dance talent in the greater Boston area with several senior
dancers and dance teachers coming together to forge an unforgettable event.
SAMEEKSHA is the cultural and literary magazine introduced by KANE in May 2005 for catering to the literary aspirations of our community. One of the primary objectives of this venture is to establish a conducive forum for our young generation to express their views and perceptions. It also serves as a medium to share our community news and activities. Though we kicked off this magazine as a quarterly publication, our dream is to lead it into a monthly in the near future. Our aim is to give equal importance to Malayalam and English. If you wish to publish your contributions in Sameeksha you can either email us your works at
